A post office is generally the building where mail is posted, receipted, sorted, handed and delivered. Post offices can also get the name of General Post Office if the building is the largest in the city. It is part of the postal system and offers a wide range of services to people who want to post their goods, such as packaging supplies and services. This facility is also not excluded from mail-related services like post office boxes (a private postal box located inside the post office station), and even non-postal services like money orders, government forms applications, etc.

There are many types of post offices depending on the size of the building and the services offered. Some post offices stick to sorting mail and processing it for delivery; these are known as postal halls. Larger post offices can include customer service and a point of sale to purchase post-related items.
