Social Services are also known as social or charity work and have the pursuit of improving the wellbeing or the quality of life of a person, group of people or a community. This social change is possible thanks to the intervention of social services in the area of research, organization and direct practice. People who receive social services are victims of poverty or other social injustices that violate human rights.

The work space for social services is very varied and differs depending on the condition of the area, from non-profit social service agencies, to hospitals, hospices, schools, etc. The role of the social worker is, roughly, to manage a case and counseling said person. This can also include psychotherapy, or other forms of therapy, always revised and helped by professionals like psychiatrists or psychologists. The effort of the social services team is to help people in need find a way to reincorporate in society.
